Our annual February date has evolved from its humble, but insanely popular “Creature of the Wheel” roots in Stellenbosch, into one of the most anticipated events in the latter half of outdoor season - Bear Trap’s Celestial Beings. This year, as we prepare for one of the most auspicious gatherings of celestial beings, we are struck by the magnitude of our continued commitment to creating a space that draws beings from all walks of light together. This year we have summoned artistic talents from the many corners of the universe, incl. musicians, dj’s, visual manipulators, fire performers, dancers & UV artists. All will ascend on the sacred site to entertain, dazzle, surprise and enthral your senses – get ready for a summer psychedelic experience that will propel you into another dimension.

DapAnji (phantasm rec, Israel)
This dynamic duo have both been making music since their preteen years but once they discovered psy culture and it’s music, they were hooked.
Both broke into the scene in their individual capacities as DJs and spent a great deal of time playing all over Israel. After spending an intense amount of time in the studio, refining their talent and defining their unique sound, they released their debut album - Born To Break (2009), on the well known Phantasm Records label – this fiercely well received release is full of crazy breaks and phat earth shattering bass lines, colored with funky psychedelics and the occasional unexpected groove.
They really are taking full on to the next level and as Phantasm Records said, “they are set to raise the bar of what’s expected from innovative studio producers” – we agree…. !
BRIAN SENTIENT (spun rec, usa)
Representing Alchemy Records in the USA, Sentient is one of the foremost psychedelic trance DJs in California. A lover of the genre since he was first exposed to it at a rave in Mexico City in 1994, Sentient has become addicted to the powerful sound of today’s psytrance.
When he plays, foremost in his mind is the music and the desire to guide people through it.
A world traveller all of his life, his unique experiences living in Africa, Mexico and Israel (as well as trips to Europe and Southeast Asia) have given him a unique outlook on life, and he channels his personality and energy into each set.
He has played alongside are Hallucinogen, X-Dream, Shpongle, Deedrah, Astrix, Son Kite, GMS, Infected Mushroom, Shane Gobi, Chromatone, Protoculture, Shakta, Cosmosis, Pixel, Absolum and many, many more.
SHANE GOBI (Alchemy Records, UK)
Alchemy Records founder and Label Manager, Shane Gobi is one of the leading DJs on the global psytrance circuit. Originally from South Africa, Shane founded Alchemy in London some 11 years ago, in 2001. Since then, he’s become a regular favourite at festivals and clubs from London to Japan. Voted DJ of the year in Isratrance in 2003, Shane is known for his technical wizardry and his unique pilgrimage that dance floor undertakes during his sets.
A truly versatile DJ, this magician is able to adapt to his own style of conjuring to blend with that of the event that he is part of…. after a stellar set at the Origin Festival recently, you can catch him at his daytime best at Celestial Beings

┊ ☆ THE SETTING ☆┊
An epic gathering demands an equally epic setting and only one venue comes to mind…Literally overnight this beautiful stone keep was catapulted from a simple rock quarry to the legendary status it now enjoys.
This is where we will setup base as we touch down on the banks of the Theewaterskloof dam.
The dance floor will be perched atop the Theewaterskloof valley, surrounded by lush vineyards and tall, majestic mountain peaks, flanked by a river which meanders into the valley past the dance floor as it rushes from the dam, carving a path and leaving it’s mark on the countryside..
Secluded and surrounded on 3 sides by stone steeples, this venue is a naturally formed amphitheatre which will double as a monstrous backdrop for some seriously powerful psychedelic visuals and otherworldly eye candy.

From the above, it’s clear that this is going to be a party to remember. Personally, the venue is one of my all time favourites. The natural amphitheatre feel really sets the tone – I remember dancing on a massive rock overlooking both the dancefloor and the river at the last party. Pretty special!

When the Psy starts I get “terragoolium” (defenition: inverted goose bumps) and shivers down my spine. I’m in a trap I don’t ever wanna leave. The smoke collects above me in the shape of a bear and the crowd looks upward with a “fanuratic” (defenition: in a trance-like) stare.
Music, lights and an irreplacable atmosphere drawing you in like a black hole (massive star which has collapsed upon its own gravity once it’s fuel has been depleted with gravitational forces high enough that even light cannot escape). A magical trap that sucks you in… Even Bravestarr’s Strength of the Bear is no match for that kind of power! Forces of nature beyond our understanding, no explaination, no definition, no equation, can do this music filled experience justice.
All around us is something known as Dark Matter.
(A term used to describe matter in the universe that cannot be seen, but can be detected by its gravitational effects on other bodies) And this is sometimes seen as an invisible TRAP or wall in the minds of the spiritual.

“Psy, Che and Delic had the strictest alien parents in the whole universe. One night, while their alien parents slept, they decided to roll their parents star away. They climbed on and shot the star out into the universe, little did they know what loomed. “BEAR left!” screamed Che as the star narrowly dodged an ACCREDITATION DISK. [definition: A relatively flat, rapidly rotating disk of gas surrounding a black hole, a newborn star, or any massive object that attracts and swallows matter.] It was too late, the black hole greedily sucked them into nothingness. Darkness became of the three aliens. “Hi we are TRish, ANne and CEline, what are your names?,” asked a sweet voice. They opened their eyes to see a vast beach and three human girls with flowers in their hair. The barefoot girls were the kind of creatures their alien parents had warned them about, the kind that could lure you in without a word. Delic began to think that it was a TRAP but he became relaxed when he heard Anne’s sweet laughter. “Where are we?” Asked Psy as the girls helped them off the beach sand. The girls smiled. “Goa, India,” said Trish. That was the beginning of the family that became PSYCHEDELIC TRANCE.”
Oook-ook was an average everyday alien. He had green and purple eyes like the rest of society and he was full of saccharine hope. He was happy, but yet he always desired something, a place to fit in, and a place to belong. This wasn’t possible since planet ‘Sexypizza’ had a very autocratic ruler. This was made more complicated when this ruler was Oook-ook’s father. Soon he had no will to live; he was surrounded by dark matter. But like any good story there is a hero, in this case it was Nudeula, a lovely alien who was in love with our main character. She travelled the dangerous cosmos in search of the legendary bear trap. Myth stated that if it were to be opened the Agents of change would ambush and take care of the problem at alien hand. They were rumored to be the contractive and destructive processes that reshape a planetary surface. Nudeula found it and made Oook-ook’s dream come true. Sexypizza had a new ruler, and only good energy was emitted through the 9th dimension. They stomped away and got married and lived happily ever after.
My (True)Story: About 5 and a half years ago,this beautiful and lovely lady friend took me to my first Beartrap and first ever trance party. What a soulfull and eye opening experience it was…the love,the togetherness,the positive energy/good vibes and the amazing celestial beings on the dancefloor…the way things should be:)
3 Months thereafter this lady and I shared our 1st Kiss at my 2nd trance party. Fast Forward >> 4years and a long mission up the garden route on her bday,I proposed to her camping on a hill overlooking the ocean at a trance party:) Dec last year we spent our 1st Wedding anniversary at a Trance Party. Origin last year was out first Trance party as a married couple:)
Being married and “Grown Up” is very expensive and there is just way too much “Life Admin”(rent,shopping,cleaning,fixing the bath…Aaaaah!!!) that get in the way of trance season.
Please help this newly married creatures get back to the Stomping ground where we can be pixies,children,intergallactic dance warriors again and play in the sun and under a galaxy of stars with not a care in the world but to enjoy that very moment,dancing barefeet,feeling the earth as the bass thumps through portholes from another dimmesion, reaching us and bringing smiles to our faces and lighting up our souls! *Goosebumps*

I would be extremely grateful if I could get the oppertunity to attend the greatest party in the universe (2.A particular sphere of activity, interest, or experience).
I really dont want to miss this party so please help a fellow trooper out to travel(Make a journey, typically of some length or abroad.) to this galaxy (1.A system of millions or billions of stars, together with gas and dust, held together by gravitational attraction) to have the best time of my life and to leave behind all my wordly (1.Of or concerned with material values or ordinary life rather than a spiritual existence.) worries.

when i go to a party i feel that i’m crossing over so many periastron (the point in the orbit of a star or other celestial body where it is nearest to the primary star with reference to which it is revolving) points and that we are all exactly where we need to be. together.

In a Galaxy faaaaar away…
There lived a young girl by the name of Tash. Looking for a happier place, Tash left planet Earth in search of greatness BUT her spaceship crashed when a passing star systems sun went SUPERNOVAE (def :: a star that suddenly increases greatly in brightness because of a catastrophic explosion that ejects most of its mass) and rouge meteors ripped the thrust engines off.
She crashlanded on a planet named Trap where she immediately fell in love with the strange thumping beats and bizarre creatures. If only her pet Bear, Satellite, (aptly named as he was born on the moon of her home planet and ‘satellite is another word for moon) had survived the crash so that he could join the festivities too!
And that is the true story of Tash and her Bear, Satellite.
Intrepid psychonauts, we head towards Ursa Major, the constellation of the great bear. We have heard tales that there lies the Mecca of psytrance lies somewhere in those stars. A place where the energy of the dance floor and music hit you with such force that the energy is greater than that of COSMIC RAYS (Atomic nuclei (mostly protons) and electrons that are observed to strike the Earth’s atmosphere with exceedingly high energies). But alas, for we all know it is a trap. We know once we find it we won’t ever want to leave. But we know the stars that hold the dance floor will soon collapse and we will be set adrift in the cold dark space of reality. But until then don your intergalactic space boots and get stomping.

When the universe began with the Big Bang (The cosmic explosion that marked the origin of the universe according to the big bang theory) there was a radical change. It was a sudden and a forceful beginning. Energy was converted into various subatomic particles to create atoms. Clouds of hydrogen would coalesce through gravity to form stars. Our universe was created. We inhabited this universe, created from the same subatomic particles. We are one with the universe. Realise the Energy reality, the mental intellectual Body and reach the higher mental body. Avoid the trap and break free, release the inner bear! Let you Energy combine with the mass people at Celestial Beings!! Brandalism!! whooooo! dance!!!
I am looking more than forward to being trapped in an annular (definition: a ring, or circle) with my friends, safe from bears, under the gibbous moon (the moon is more than half, but less than completely full), watching the beautiful aurora (definition: beautiful lights) dancing to the beats of the translucent psy!:)
The party is in town, and as our own teddy bear picnic we chase lights like meteoroids in the night! With music booming in our celestial atmosphere, we fly among the stars with nothing to fear, this is not an addictive trap, it’s a trance party… And we’re not turning back!
